William F. Dietzel

June 10, 1928 - November 30, 2009

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather

Foxborough-William Frank Dietzel Sr., age 81, died on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Piraino) and son of the late Henry and Mary (Fleming) Dietzel.

Bill was born in Dedham on June 10, 1928 and attended Dedham Public Schools. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Infantry in the Korean War. He and his wife Nancy were married at St. Mary’s Church on November 26, 1982.

Bill was a member of the Painters Union in Boston and also worked for the Foxborough Housing Authority from 1982 to 1993. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Foxborough. He was a member and past commander of the Foxborough V.F.W. Post 2626.

Bill was an avid horse shoe player and was a member of the Foxborough Horse Shoe League. He was also a member of the Foxborough Cribbage League, Foxboro Merchant Bowling League and was one of the original members of the Foxborough Men’s Softball League.

Bill was also a former coach for the Foxborough Little League and Babe Ruth League. Bill loved spending time with his family and would attend all of his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Beloved husband of Nancy F. (Olson). Loving father of Karen A. Dietzel of North Attleboro, William F. Dietzel Jr. and his wife Deborah of Foxborough, and Teresa M. and her husband Matthew Walsh of Norton. Devoted grandfather of William, III, Brian, Thomas and Jeffrey Dietzel and Brittany and Samantha Walsh. Son in-law of Samuel Piraino of Norwood. Brother of Margaret Schrade of Montana, Ruth Henderson of Foxborough, Florence Madden of Canton, Joanne Pelletier of New Hampshire, Frank Dietzel of Dedham, Fred Dietzel of Millis and the late Mary Rudevich, Henry Dietzel and Arthur Dietzel.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, December 4, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. in Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 53 Carpenter St. in Foxborough. Interment to follow with military honors at Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxborough.
