Vanita Guaragna

Devoted wife, mother and granmother

Vanita Guaragna, age 85, died on Saturday, July 1, her eighty fifth birthday, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Hiram and Rebecca (Bentley) Dial.

Vanita was born on July 1, 1921 in Texas. She was a graduate of the University of Texas and was a registered nurse for the City of Boston VNA. She and her husband Anthony also owned and operated Johnny’s Donut Shop in Dorchester from 1946 to 1967.

Wife of the late Anthony Guaragna. Beloved mother of Joan and her husband Richard Donovan, Sr. Devoted grandmother of Kelly and her husband John Blaisdell, Kristin and her husband Brad Cady and Richard Jr. and his wife Darleen Donovan. Adoring great grandmother of eight.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro on Wednesday, July 5 from 4-7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6 at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
