Mrs. Joan Irene Roque

July 24, 1934 - June 04, 2008

Devoted Mother and Grandmother

Joan Irene (Kennedy) Roque, age 73, died at her home on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Mary (Butler) Kennedy.

Joan was born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 24, 1934. She grew up in Rhode Island and was a 1952 graduate of the Bayview Academy in Riverside. She also attended classes at URI and Brown University. She and her husband Gerald were married on September 29, 1962 at St. Paul’s Church in Cranston.

Joan had been a resident of Foxborough for the last 43 years and had worked as an assistant librarian at the Boyden Library in Foxborough for the last 20 years.

Joan was an avid reader and also enjoyed cooking and traveling with her late husband Gerald. However, nothing was more important to Joan than her family. She loved spending time with her sons and daughters and their spouses. She was adored by her 10 grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald W. Roque. Loving mother of Thomas Roque and his wife Jayne of Shrewsbury, Mary Roque of Newton, Francis Roque and his wife Meg of Berryville, VA, Patrick Roque of Santa Monica, CA, Catherine and her husband Wayne Brown of North Attleboro, MA and Sarah Roque of Alexandria,VA. Devoted grandmother of Sean and Luke Brown, Joseph, Brendan , Caitlyn, Michael, John, Joan, Magdalene and the late Finbar Roque. Sister of Mary C. Jacoby of West Hartford CT, Joseph R. Kennedy of Diamond Bar, CA, John B. Kennedy of Seminole, FL and Barbara Fenwick of Raleigh, NC.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, June 8, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. Foxborough. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter St, Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxborough.
