Ernest F. MacBurnie

August 25, 1925 - July 10, 2007

WWII United States Army Veteran

Ernest MacBurnie of Foxboro died on Tuesday July 10th at his home that he loved surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Eva (Hamilton)

MacBurnie whom he loved for over 60 years. Eva died in October of last year.
He was a life long resident of South Foxboro. He was the son of the late Ernest F. and Ruth (Tripp) MacBurnie.

He went to Foxboro Schools, leaving high school early to serve in the 83rd Infantry Division during WWII. He returned home from the war a decorated soldier to marry his sweetheart.

He worked for the Foxboro Company for over 43 years were he was well known for being the first one out the door at quitting time to rush home to his waiting family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing and water-skiing, all with his family in tow. He had a great love for nature, his woods and his dog.

He was the Head Elder of the Church of Emanuel in Foxboro for many years, helping others in his quiet humble way and volunteering for his church work crews helping others in need.

He was the proud father of the late Arthur S. MacBurnie, and four daughters, Cheryl Paine of Thetford, VT, Beverly McGee of Foxboro, Deborah MacBurnie of Mansfield and Elizabeth Andrews of Kennasaw, GA. He also leaves five grandchildren: Aaron Paine of VT, Deborah Paine of Alaska, Cindy Paine of VT, Daniel Lawton of Norton, and Ronald Scott Lawton of FL.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, July 13, from 5-8 at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at the Church of the Emanuel, 106 Central St., Foxboro. Interment to follow with U.S. Army Honors at Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
