Alice Thrasher

February 26, 1926 - January 17, 2012

Beloved Mother and Grandmother

Alice Irene (Heffernan) Thrasher died peacefully at home on January 17, 2012 with her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Alice resided Fort Mill, SC. She was born in Foxboro, MA on February 26, 1926 to William J. and Mary R. (DeLory) Heffernan and was a resident of Foxboro for 76 of her 85 years.

She was a 1943 graduate of Foxboro High School. Alice was married to Dana H. Thrasher on November 8, 1952 and they remained married for 41 years prior to his death on April 22, 1994.

During her children’s school years she worked as the chief baker for the Foxboro School system making over 2,000 desserts a day. She then returned to work for The Foxboro Company retiring as an executive assistant in 1985 after 19 years of service. Not happy being retired, she then worked for Leona’s Ice Cream Company in Canton, MA before working for The Northrop Corporation of Norwood, MA from which she retired in 1994.

She thoroughly enjoyed her later retirement and traveled around the world, spent time with family and friends, but also enjoyed being home. Alice moved from Foxboro to Norton, MA in 2002 with her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law David. In July, 2010 they settled in Fort Mill, SC, which she adored.

She was preceded in death by her sister M. Rita Gray, and brothers Edwin and William Heffernan.

Alice is survived by three children, Cheryl Diane and her husband David Alger and his daughters Kristen Goulet Deya of York, SC and Kimberly Alger Reyes of Hampton, NH; Debra Ann Murphy and her sons Matthew, Michael, and Thomas of Attleboro, MA and John Albert Thrasher and his with Cindy of Fairhaven, MA. She also is survived by seven great -grandchildren; Nolan, Kalie, Jacob, Nolexia, Olando, Isabel and Sueli.

She also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as in-laws from her husband’s family. Alice is also survived be her dear friends Doris and James Sheward of Foxboro, MA.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro with burial in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
