Mary U. (Lewis) Smith, age 104, a Foxboro native, died Friday, March 17. She was the daughter of the late William R. and Maude (Trask) Lewis. Mary was born in Cambridge, MA on February 15, 1902 and moved to Foxboro at the age of two. She later lived in Milton prior to returning to Foxboro. She married her late husband, Roy E. Smith, in 1925 at the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxboro. Mary was a graduate of the Framingham Normal School. She taught in Dedham for several years before her teaching career in Foxboro. She retired from the Foxboro Public Schools in 1968. Mary was an avid reader and played bridge. She cherished her family and enjoyed her home. She was a member of the Foxboro Garden Club, the Foxboro Women’s Club, Afternoon Division of Bethany Church and was a member of the Kings Daughters. Wife of the late Roy E. Smith. Devoted mother of Patricia J. and her husband John Rohner of N. Attleboro and Beverly S. and her husband Curtis Read of Foxboro. Adoring grandmother of Clifford Read of Wrentham, Kathryn Yurek of Attleboro and Susan Aubuchon of Foxboro. Beloved great grandmother of Megan, Tyler, Thomas and Kyle. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sister of James Lewis of Nobleboro, ME, and the late Rena Shaw, Anita Leavitt, Patricia Hicks, William Lewis, Jr. and Ruth Nowlan. Funeral InformationRelatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro on Wednesday, March 22 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Barton Chapel of Bethany Congregation Church, 3 Rockhill Street, Foxboro on Thursday, March 23 at 2 pm.
