Edward Albert Cronin, 83, of Foxboro died Friday, July 18, 2008 at Boston Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Maria (Melnick) Cronin, who died in 1984. Born in Boston on December 12, 1924, he was a son of the late Timothy Cronin and Mary (Hohmann) Cronin and had attended Boston schools. Mr. Cronin was a retired railroad worker and later was employed at both Shattuck Hospital and Norwood Hospital. In recent years, he delivered The Foxboro Reporter to retail outlets on Thursday mornings. He enjoyed gardening, and was an avid follower of Boston sports teams, particularly the Boston Red Sox. He is survived by a son, Philip T. Cronin of Foxboro; a brother, Arthur J. Cronin of Dorchester; and two grandchildren, Meredith and John Cronin of Foxboro. He was the brother of the late Gertrude McHale and Virginia Cronin. Funeral InformationA funeral Mass was held at 9 am on Tuesday, July 22 at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro.
