Ruth Evelyn (Hartshorn) Houghton, age 78, of Foxboro died Tuesday, February 21. She was the daughter of the late Earle C. and Mary (Thompson) Houghton. She was the loving wife of the late Wallace A. Houghton, Jr, a retired Norwood firefighter.

Mrs. Houghton was born and raised in Norwood and was a graduate from Norwood High School. She was graduated from the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing in September, 1948, a member of the last class of cadet nurses. Ruth was a retired registered nurse from Neponset Valley Health System. She was a long time member of the United Church of Norwood. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Loving mother of Roxanne R. Houghton of Attleboro, Paula L. Houghton of Hyannis, Marcia Houghton-Simonds of Foxboro, Wallace A. Houghton, III of Cranston, RI and the late James E. Houghton. Beloved grandmother of Daniel Houghton of Norwood, Scott Hogan of Winchendon, Michael Daley of Hyannis, Lee Daley of Hyannis, Alicia Simonds of Foxboro and Taylor Houghton of Cranston, RI. Adoring great grandmother of four. Sister of Earle C. Hartshorn of Walpole.

Funeral Information

Family and friends are kindly invited to calling hours on Wednesday, February 22 from 4 to 8 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A funeral service will be held at the United Church in Walpole, 30 Common Street, Walpole, MA at 2 pm on Thursday, February 23.
