Francis J. “Joe”Strickland, age 69, retired Foxboro Police Sgt., died after a long illness at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Howe. Joe was the born in Hornell, New York on January 14, 1937 and graduated from Hornell High School with the class of 1955. He also attended Dean Academy in Franklin and graduated from the Police Academy in Brockton. He served in the U.S. Navy at Newport, RI and aboard the fleet destroyer tender U.S.S. Yellowstone in the late 1950s. He worked at the Foxboro Company later to join the Foxboro Police Department. Joe was a member of St. Alban’s Lodge A.F. & A.M., The Wrentham Sportsman Club, the Massachusetts Police Association and the Crewman of the U.S.S.Yellowstone Assoc. Husband of Eileen L. (Farnell) for forty seven years they were married in Alexandria, Virginia on December 8, 1958 He was the devoted father of A. Joseph Strickland of Foxboro, Carla Lee Willette of Plainville and John C. Strickland of Foxboro. Grandfather of Kendra, Jamie, Charles and Mitchell Willette and John Jr., and Rebecca Strickland. Also survived by his sister Donna Lee Howe of Hornell, NY. Funeral InformationRelatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 pm during calling hours. Funeral services on Wednesday June 14 at 8:00 from the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street Foxboro followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church Carpenter Street, Foxboro.
