Margaret Rita Swanson

Retired Supervisor from Bird Machine Co. of South Walpole

Margaret Rita (Sheehan) Swanson, age 94, former long time Walpole resident died at the Pond Home in Wrentham on Sunday, July 31. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Murphy) Sheehan and the wife of the late Evold A. Swanson.

Born in Canton, MA on November 9, 1910, she was a Walpole High School graduate, Class of 1928. She and her husband were married July 8, 1939 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. She worked for 18 years as a secretary at the Bird Machine Company in S. Walpole where she retired in 1972 as supervisor of the stenographic department. Margaret was a long time volunteer for the East Walpole Library.

Loving mother of Helen Zinter and her husband Herman of Hull, Bruce Swanson of Mansfield and his late wife Martha and the late Kristin Semler and her late husband Martin. Devoted grandmother of Karen Semler Scafidi of Hudson, MA, Cheryl White Day of Westwood, MA, Mark Semler of Morris Plains, NJ, Michael White of Atlanta, GA, Brian Swanson of Derry, NH and Craig Swanson of Fall River, MA. She was the adoring great grandmother of Derek, Julia, Zachary, Connor and Luke. . Dear sister of Wilfred Sheehan of S. Walpole and his late wife Hazel, Edward Sheehan of Foxboro and his late wife Alice and the late Helen Sheehan.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro on Wednesday, August 3 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro on Thursday, August 4 at 9 am. Interment to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery.
