Karen Z. Meehan
April 25, 1944 - August 19, 2005
Active for over fourteen years in the fight against cancer Karen Z. (Asmus) Meehan age 61 died Friday August 19, 2005 at Caritas Norwood Hospital. Karen grew up in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School with the class of 1962. She graduated from the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. On August 26, 1967 She married William F. Meehan Jr. at Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park. Karen practiced her profession as a Registered Nurse for over thirty years, twenty-three of them on the staff of Norwood Hospital she then retired in 2000. She was a 14 and one half year cancer survivor and since then was involved in a variety of activities in the fight against cancer, including a Norwood based support group, and the American Cancer Society as well as The Walk for Life in Foxboro. Along with her husband William she is survived by her daughter Kristin and her husband John Thornton of Bellingham and her son Geoffrey and his wife Julie Meehan of Norwood, her mother C. Zita Asmus of Foxboro and two sisters, Nancy McGraw of Foxboro and Judith Bleuzen of Randolph. She was grandmother of Colin and Owen Thornton of Bellingham. Her father John F. Asmus died in 1994.
Funeral Information
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday August 24, 2005 at 8:AM from the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home 30 South St. Foxboro followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:AM at St. Mary’s Church Foxboro. Calling Hrs. at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
