Edward H. Van Den Berghe
May 19, 1912 - May 27, 2006
Co-Founder Foxboro Little League Edwin H. Van Den Berghe Age 94 died on Saturday May 27, 2006 at The Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham. He was the son of the late Leon and Elizabeth (Van Steen Burgen) Van Den Berghe.
Edwin was born in Boston and spent most of his life in Foxboro. He graduated from Foxboro High School class of 1929.
Edwin was a machinist at the former S. W. Cards Company in Mansfield and was later a Personnel Manager at Dunn’s Worsted. He was also former president of the Industrial Trade Union. He had been owner of Quality Mending Co. of Foxboro. He also worked as a security officer for the Foxboro Company and the former Foxboro State Hospital. He was involved in the early days with Foxboro Youth Baseball as an organizer and coach. Ed also played baseball with the former Pat Smith’s All Stars and at the University of Alabama.
Edwin was the husband of the late Julia (Tynan) and the loving father of Edwin L. Van Den Berghe, Frank T. Van Den Berghe, Karl Van Den Berghe and Lance R. Van Den Berghe all of Foxboro, Jan A. Van Den Berghe of Harwich and Mark H. Van Den Berghe of North Attleboro. He is the brother of the late Frank J. Van Den Berghe. And survived by 19 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
Funeral Information
Funeral on Wed. May 28, at 8:AM from the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street Foxboro followed by a funeral Mass at 9:AM at St. Mary’s Church Carpenter St. Foxboro. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tues. from 4 to 7 PM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxboro.
