Catherine Frances Sands

October 04, 1928 - August 31, 2005

Catherine Frances (Scanlon) Sands, age 76, of Foxboro, died Wednesday, August 31 at Caritas Norwood Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Riordan) Scanlon. Wife of the late Hugh Sands.

Catherine was born in Boston on October 4, 1928 and was a graduate of Mission High School in Boston. She married her husband Hugh in the Mission Hill Church in Roxbury on October 10, 1953.

Catherine was a secretary at the Foxboro Company for over 16 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro, where she was a CCD teacher. Catherine was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Loving mother of Arleen Breen of Westport, CT, Brian Sands of Norton and Catherine Bagley and David Sands, both of Foxboro. Sister of Mary Smith of Dorchester and the late John, Leo and Joseph Scanlon. She is also survived by six grandchildren.

Funeral Information

Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, September 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 7 at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
