Richard H. Mitchell
January 31, 1940 - September 22, 2008
Former President and Owner of Mitch's Repair Service in Norfolk Foxborough-Richard H. Mitchell died on Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a long battle with lymphoma. He was the son of the late John A. and Mildred B. (Sheffield) Mitchell.
Richard was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa and raised in Sharon. He graduated from Sharon High School and attended Northeastern University. Richard married his wife Linda at his home in Sharon on January 15, 1961.
Richard was the owner and president of Mitch’s Repair Service in Norfolk for 37 years. He retired in 2005. He ran the 12 step program and bible studies for Prison Fellowship Ministries at Norfolk Prison. In 1990 he was elected Volunteer of the Year for Prison Ministries. He was a member and former deacon, trustee and mission leader for the Sharon Evangelical Baptist Church. He was also a member of Gideon’s International.
Beloved husband of Linda A. (Pierce) Mitchell. Loving father of James and his wife Jeanne of FL, Jeffrey and his wife Joan of North Attleboro and Jennifer and her husband Steven Pont of VA. Devoted grandfather of Laura, Bryan, Sarah and Carly Mitchell. Brother of Jon and his wife Susan of ME, Nan Parker and Nita and her husband Earl all of Iowa and the late Charles W. Mitchell and Faye A. Bartlett. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, September 27, from 11 AM to1 PM at the Sharon Evangelical Baptist Church, 152 South Main St. in Sharon. A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
