Mildred Annie McNamara

Mildred Annie (Saunders) McNamara, age 83, died at her home in Foxboro surrounded by the comfort of her loving family on Friday, December 30.

Born on February 26, 1922 in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Eugene A. and Theresa A. (DeVany) Saunders. As a young child, Mildred moved with her family to Foxboro where she was a graduate of Foxboro High School. Class of 1940. She was also a graduate of Pondville Hospital School of Nursing in Norfolk.

Mildred married her husband, Francis G. McNamara on August 3, 1941 at St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro. She was a licensed practical nurse at both Foxboro State Hospital and Pondville Hospital in Norfolk. She retired in 1977 after 35 years as an LPN from Medfield State Hospital. Mildred was a former member of the Foxboro VFW Women’s Auxiliary and was an avid crocheter, knitter and reader. She was especially proud of her Scottish and Irish heritage and enjoyed genealogy.

Loving wife of 64 years of Francis G. McNamara. Devoted mother of Kevin of Foxboro, Patrick and his wife Dorothy of Attleboro, Timothy and his wife Pamela of Foxboro, Denis and his wife Cheryl of Plainville and the late William McNamara and his widow Kathryn of N. Attleboro. Cherished grandmother of Patricia, Christine, Kevin, Michael, Erin, Kimberly and Christopher and great grandmother of Shea, Abigail, Michael, Sean and the late Michael McNamara. Sister of the late Joseph Saunders and the late Marjorie Webb. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Friends and family are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Monday, January 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South street, Foxboro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 3 at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
