Lawrence Anthony Coppola
August 28, 1940 - September 22, 2006
Owner and Operator of NEMPCO of Foxboro Lawrence Anthony “Larry” Coppola died at home on September 22, 2006 after a long illness surrounded by the comfort and love of his family. He was the son
of the late Felice and Concetta (Scanzillo) Coppola.
Larry was born on August 28, 1940. He graduated from Roxbury Latin High School in West Roxbury in 1958. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T in 1963. He received his Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1970.
As a young man Larry and his late brother Mike built and raced cars and won many awards. They also had an article written about them in Hot Rod Magazine in the 1960’s.
For a while Larry taught engineering at Wentworth Institute before starting NEMPCO, Inc., a motorcycle wholesale parts and distribution company with his late brother Mike in 1971.
Larry also proudly served as the Treasurer for his late brother Mike’s political campaigns.
He was a member of the Foxboro Country Club, the Royal Palms Country Club in Naples, Fl and the Players Club, also in Naples.
He is survived by his wife Barbara (Morrissey) Coppola of Foxboro. He is the father of Dawn M. Baker and her husband Jonathan of Norton and Lori A. Smith and her husband Michael of Mansfield. Beloved grandfather of Colin Smith of Mansfield. He was the brother of the late Rep. Michael Coppola of Foxboro.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, September 26, from 4 to 8 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St, Foxboro. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 27, at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter St. Foxboro. Burial will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
