Barbara C. Hyland

Former State Representative Barbara Claire (Kelleher) Hyland, age 64, of Foxboro died November 1, 2007 at her home surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She is the daughter of Claire (Burns) Kelleher and the late Bartholemew Kelleher.
Barbara was born on October 17, 1943 in West Orange, NJ. She attended public school in CT and was a graduate of Regis College, Class of 1965. At Regis, she majored in Political Science and was the class President. She married her husband George on April 23, 1966. Barbara enjoyed biking, tennis, bridge and was an avid traveler.
From 1977-1986, Barbara served 3 terms on the Foxboro School Committee. In April of 1992, she won election to the State Legislature as the State Representative of the First Bristol District. She served 5 terms as State Representative until her retirement in 2001.
Barbara was the beloved wife of George G. Hyland Jr. Loving mother of Kevin C. Hyland of Foxboro, Dana E. Hyland of Jamaica Plain and the late infant daughter, Elizabeth Anne. Devoted sister of Janice Mazzotti of Topsham, ME, Dana Kelleher of Orange, VA and Mary Beth Horton of Ormond Beach, FL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, November 4 from 4 to 8 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 5 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
