Retired Foxborough Town Clerk and Town Treasurer Foxborough-Roberta E. Lawson, age 90, died at her home in on Saturday, May 9, 2009 surrounded by the comfort of her loving family.
Roberta was born in Foxborough on August 7, 1918 and was the daughter of the late John and Mildred (Reeves) Reynolds. She was a graduate of Foxborough High School, Class of 1931 and Burdett College in Boston. She was preceded in death by her husbands Leo McAuliffe in 1961 and Edward Lawson in 1989.
Roberta was both Town Clerk and Treasurer for the Town of Foxborough for over 23 years. She retired in May of 1982. She was appointed Justice of the Peace on May 19, 1982 and in 1983 she received the Good Citizen Award form the Foxborough Grange. She was also a member of the Foxborough Women’s Club.
Beloved mother of Bruce L. McAuliffe of Foxborough, R. Brian McAuliffe of New York, Deborah E. Reilly of North Carolina and step mother of James Lawson of California and the late Edward Lawson. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 15, from 4-7 at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. in Foxborough. Services will begin on Saturday at 9 AM at the funeral home followed by a 10 AM funeral service at the Bethany Congregational Church, 3 Rockhill St. in Foxborough.
