Frances Budlong

July 29, 1920 - March 23, 2006

Frances Arlene (Macdonald) Budlong, age 85, died on Thursday, March 23, surrounded by the comfort of her loving family at the Island Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeville. Frances was the daughter of the late Frank T. and Sophia (Neal) Macdonald.

Frances was born in Providence on July 29, 1920. She was a native of Cranston and graduated from Cranston High School in 1938. She also graduated from Edgewater Secretarial School of Cranston in 1939.

She married her husband Arthur at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Providence on May 22, 1943. She worked for the Foxboro Company for twenty-four years as an administrative assistant and retired in 1983.

She was a long time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Foxboro and was a member of the St. Mark’s Vestry and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the St. Mark’s Bell Choir. She was a former chairman of the New Trading Post and a volunteer driver for the FISH program in Foxboro.

Frances was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved to entertain her family and friends at her home and hosted an elaborate annual Christmas Eve party for many years. In recent years she discovered that she possessed a talent in water painting and enjoyed creating paintings in her home at Island Terrace.

Wife of the late Arthur M. Budlong Jr. Beloved mother of Carol J. Green and her husband Fred of Foxboro, Arthur “Skip” Budlong III of Wrentham and Lois Knight Martin and her husband Ronald of Plymouth. Devoted grandmother of Mindy Martin, Scott Martin, Joshua Green and his wife Wanda, Jessica Green and Jaime Martin. Loving sister of Mary Jayne Windrow of Cranston, RI. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday March 26, from 2-4 & 7-9:00 pm at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street Foxboro. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 27, at 11:00 am at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South St. in Foxboro. Interment services will be private.
