Phyllis E. Williams

April 16, 1924 - June 11, 2008

Foxborough-Phyllis E. Williams, age 84, died at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Conroy) Stone.

Phyllis was born on April 16, 1924 in Norwood. She was a native of Walpole and was educated in Walpole Public Schools. She proudly served her country as a Navy Wave during WWII. She and her husband Gilbert were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole on August 21, 1948.

Phyllis was a bookkeeper for G.E. Williams Pool Company which her husband owned and operated. She then worked for the former Fairfield Optical Shop in Mansfield and Marine Optical in Easton as an inspector before her retirement in 1988.

Phyllis enjoyed traveling with her children and sister. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She also enjoyed playing cards and was an avid reader. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

Wife of the late Gilbert E. Williams Sr. who died in December of 1984. Loving mother of Maryann Chevalier and her husband Richard of Cumberland, RI, Gilbert Williams Jr. and his wife Jean of Brockton, Karen Mitchell and her husband Whitney and Sandra Shepardson and her husband Glenn of Foxborough. Sister of Rosalie Patchin of Plainville, John Stone of Norton, William Stone and his wife Claire of South Dennis and the late Phillip Stone and Joyce Smith. Sister-in-law of Chester Smith of Westwood. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday June 15, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street in Foxborough. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter St. in Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
