Cornelius Harry Davison

Accident Investigator for the FFA Cornelius “Corky” Harry Davison died unexpectedly at his home in Grafton, New Hampshire on April 7, 2007. Born May 13, 1928, in New Franklin Missouri, he graduated from New Franklin High School in 1947.
He served as a merchant seaman, traveling throughout the South Pacific, and later on the historic Katy Railroad across Missouri and the Midwest. Corky was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a US Army infantryman in the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1950-52. Corky’s love of aviation brought him from Missouri to Arkansas and Ohio where he worked as an airplane mechanic. In 1969, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration in Norwood MA. After 20 years as a maintenance supervisor and accident investigator, he retired in 1989 from the FAA in Bedford MA. His love of aviation was the driving force behind the creation of Davison Aviation Services. He worked as an aviation consultant until the time of his death. His work took him to England, Ireland, Switzerland, Scotland, Holland, Germany, France, Austria, Brazil and through the continental US.
Corky was an avid hunter and fisherman, a talented woodworker with a passion for aviation and military history. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd degree), A Company of the Military Historian’s, FAA retirees, American Legion, and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a communicant of St Mary’s in Canann NH and St Mary’s in Mansfield MA.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Koontz, whom he was married to from 1952 to 1970. Together they had 5 of his 7 children.
At the time of his death, Corky leaves his wife Elizabeth “Becky” Van Den Berghe, formerly of Foxboro, MA. He leaves behind 5 daughters: Kathryn Cutillo of Raynham, MA; Elizabeth “Betsy” Davison of Reston VA, Rita Carroll of King George VA, Helen Alden of Middlebury FL and MAJ Tracy Pennycuick of Harleysville PA. He leaves behind 2 sons, Cornelius “Neil” Davison Jr of Phoenix AZ, and LTC Michael Davison of Foxboro MA. He leaves behind his beloved 13 grandchildren. He leaves behind his siblings; LTC (retired) Joseph Davison of New Franklin Missouri, Helen Vierralves of Cocoa Beach FL, Ann Vonderahe of Homestead FL, and Delores Hockens of Sugarland TX. He was preceded in death by his sisters, LTC (retired) Rita Davison and Ruth Dixon.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 and 7 9 pm on Wednesday, April 11. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street, Mansfield, MA. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
