Beloved Father and Husband John A. Richards
John A. Richards, age 94, died at the South Eastern Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Easton, MA on Monday, July 16. He was the son of the late Albert and Vada (Ford) Richards.
John was born in Nahant on January 30, 1913 and was educated in the Nahant Public School System. A long time Foxboro resident, John worked for many years as a framer at the Bleachery in Mansfield and later as a mail clerk for the Foxboro Company, retiring in 1978. He also helped his brother Stub Richards with his landscaping business in Foxboro for many years.
He was an avid bowler and bowled for the Foxboro Furniture Bowling League and the Bleachery Bowling League and was also a member of the Foxboro Cribbage League. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan as well as an avid gardener.
Beloved husband of the late Barbara W. (Attwood) Richards. Loving father of Patricia A. Dugan of North Attleboro, Bruce Richards of Wrentham, John Richards of Foxboro and Gary Richards of North Attleboro. Brother of Preston Richards of Foxboro. Also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to calling hours on Thursday, July 19 from 10 am to noon at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A funeral service will be held at noon at the conclusion of calling hours.
