Herbert M. Nilsen

Retired Field Service Engineer Foxborough – Herbert M. Nilsen, age 79, died unexpectedly at his home on August 12, 2010. He was the son of the late Hjalmer and Agnes (Andersen) Nilsen.
Herbert was born on December 28, 1930 in Boston. He attended Boston Public Schools and was a graduate of the University of Texas. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as a field service engineer at ITech Corp in Needham for over twenty years.
Being of Norwegian descent he had a great love of the ocean and fresh and salt water fishing. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed woodworking. He was a devoted family man. Herbert helped in building the Burrell School and was a hockey coach at Foxborough High School from 1970 – 1972. In his earlier days he was an avid skier.
Beloved companion of Margaret (Bourque) Shea. Loving father of Kyle T. and his wife Jennifer Nilsen and their daughter Erica of North Easton and Lisa Gilmore of NH and her daughter Shawna and the late KirkNilsen. Step father of Patrice Jager and her husband John Signorelli of Mansfield and Anne Marie Shea-Henry and her husband David of Foxborough. Former husband of Elaine Nilsen. Brother of the late and Warren Kulberg. Also survived by seven grandchildren.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 18 at 10 am at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South Street, Foxborough followed by a life celebration at 15 Kingsbrook Way, North Easton.
