Jack W. Grigsby
March 16, 1920 - February 14, 2006
Foxboro Company Retiree, Veteran Foxboro - Jack W. Grigsby, 85, died early Tuesday morning at Norwood Hospital after being stricken at his Rockhill Street home with a heart attack.
Mr. Grigsby was retired from The Foxboro Company where he worked as a methods engineer for 35 years dealing with associate companies and factory branches as their liaison with the Foxboro plant.
During World War II he served as a Navy aviation metalsmith first class in the Pacific theater on the aircraft carrier USS Sander and the seaplane tender USS Curtis.
He was a member of Bethany Congregational Church in Foxboro where he was active on many committees and in Leisure Learning where he taught chair caning.
For more than 25 years, Mr. Grigsby served as Tyler of St. Alban’s Masonic Lodge in Foxboro. He was also a trustee of the of the Foxboro Cemetery Corporation where he served as clerk; trustee of the Pond Home in Wrentham where he was Admissions Chairman; a member of the King’s Daughters and Sons where he was Auditor and Secretary; and was the president and treasurer of the Norfolk County King’s Daughters and Sons.
Mr. Grigsby was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, son of the late Bland B. and Sue (Knapton) Grigsby. His brother Charles is deceased.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn (Daniels) Grigsby, a son, Alan S. Grigsby of Claremont, NH, two grandsons, Greg M. Grigsby of Grantham, New Hampshire, and Casey S. Grigsby of Barre, Vt., a great-granddaughter, Claire Grigsby of Grantham, and a step great-granddaughter, Paige Kinny of Grantham.
A son, Sgt. Mark W. Grigsby, was killed during the Vietnam War in 1969.
Funeral Information
Calling hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro and a memorial service will be Friday at 11 am at Bethany Congregational Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
