Barbara May McConnell

August 10, 1924 - September 03, 2007

Devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Barbara May (Wood) McConnell, age 83, of Foxboro, died suddenly Monday, September 3 at Caritas Norwood Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Walley) Wood.

Barbara was born in Providence, RI on August 10, 1924. She was a graduate of Jeremiah E. Burke High School. She was employed at the Foxboro Federal Bank in the mortgage department. She married her husband Clarence in Wrentham on June 4, 1967.

Barbara was an accomplished singer and was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Chaminade Group of Attleboro and was a former treasurer of the Foxboro Country Club. She was a member of the choir when the Pittsburgh Symphony conducted by Michael Tillson Thomas and performed at the Tweeter Center. She was also a member of the Bethany Church choir in Foxboro.

Beloved wife of Clarence W. McConnell of Foxboro. Devoted mother of E. Gregory Norton of Boxboro, Paul F. Norton of Foxboro, Jane E. Norton of CA and Janine Izzo of Norton. Loving grandmother of Jennifer Davis of FL and Christina and Steven Izzo of Norton. Sister of Joseph Wood of VT, Lois O’Connor of Bridgewater and June Beaulieu of North Attleboro.

Funeral Information

Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, September 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro.
