Plainville – Shirley H. Spence, age 85, died Saturday, July 31 at her family’s home in Palm Coast, FL. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet (Pruneau) Spence.

Shirley was born on September 30, 1924 in Burlington, VT. She was a graduate of the Horace Mann School for the Deaf. Shirley has been a Plainville resident for the past forty three years and was formerly of Dorchester.

Shirley worked as a file clerk for Met Life for over thirty years. She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Plainville and was very active in the local deaf community. Shirley enjoyed spending time at her home on Lake Mirimichi. An animal lover, she enjoyed taking care of her pets, feeding the birds and watching the swans swim from her backyard. She was a devoted sister and cousin.

Shirley was the beloved cousin of Beulah Stankovich of Palm Coast, FL and beloved sister of the late Mary Lentini.
