Phelps Kilborn "Pep" Tracy

Beloved Father, Grandfather and Friend Phelps “Pep” Kilborn Tracy, age 99, died at his home in Foxboro on January 6. He was the son of the late Ellsworth M. and Bertha P. (Bristol) Tracy and was the last living grandson and nephew of the Bristol family, founders of the Foxboro Company. He graduated from Amherst College in 1931 and then studied metallurgy at MIT. A year later he joined his uncles at the Foxboro Company as the office boy.
Pep married Eleanor Carr Phillips in 1937. They moved to Foxboro and in 1941 built their home on Granite Street, overlooking Cocasset Lake. His professional life at the Foxboro Company spanned 36 years. He was instrumental in organizing the company’s 50th anniversary celebration in 1958 and establishing international purchasing and production systems toward the end of his career. Above all, Pep enjoyed music, travel, history, golf, the brotherhood of Masons at St. Alban’s Lodge, Foxboro, and his old cypress boat which he regularly rowed on Cocasset Lake until Halloween of this year.
Beloved husband of the late Eleanor Carr Phillips. Loving father of Eugenia Tracy Kirchner, Newport Beach, CA, Eleanor Tracy Jenkins of Arlington, MA, Phelps K. Tracy, Jr. of Holmes Beach, FL and Martha S. Tracy of Porter, ME. Devoted grandfather of Stephen and Andrew Hill, Tracy Thordarson, Henry and Temperance Jenkins, Phelps C. Tracy, C. Josephine and Silas Hagerty. Great grandfather of 11. Brother of the late Ellsworth M. Tracy, II and Bristol P. Tracy. He shared his home for the past 9 years with Elizabeth and Francisco Isaza and their children Sofia and Daniel who became like family to him.
Funeral Information
Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008. Family and friends are welcome to attend the interment service at 1 PM, Rockhill Cemetery on Union Street in Foxboro. His memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 116 South Street, Foxboro at 2 PM.
