Hazel C. Doane

Loving Mother and Grandmother Foxborough-Hazel C. Doane, age 87, died on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the wife of the late Thomas Whalen and Francis E. Doane and loving daughter of the late William and Margaret (Bullock) Jarvis.
Hazel was born on November 2, 1921 in Walpole and attended Walpole Public Schools. She worked as an assembler for RCA in Needham and then worked for Raytheon in Norwood until her retirement in 1985. She has been a resident of Foxborough since 1964 and was formerly of Walpole.
Hazel was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family on holidays and gatherings. She adored her dog Pookie and was an avid card player and Jigsaw puzzle enthusiast. She loved the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and enjoyed traveling and trips to Cape Cod.
Beloved mother of Donna M. Potter of Hyannis, Thomas P. Whalen and his wife Carol of FL, Theresa L. Riviera of Attleboro, Peter J. Whalen of Norton, James F. Doane and his wife Mary of Mansfield, Barry J. Doane of Foxborough, Susan E. Kimmell of Maine, Sally A. and her husband Matthew Lucier of Norton, Steven W. Doane of Foxborough, Kevin P. Doane and his wife Julie of Wareham and the late Kathryn Whalen and David Doane. Loving sister of Ruth Allen of RI, Dorothy Walsh of Dennis, James and John Jarvis of Foxborough, Sister Mary William of Framingham and the late Margaret Wilber, Mary Sherwood, Helen Spillane, Louise Davis, Peter Jarvis, Marion Douquette and William Jarvis. Also survived by 30 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, January 12, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home 30 South St. in Foxborough Center. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter St. in Foxborough.
