Robert Joseph McLaughlin, age 71, died Friday, August 11 at the Maples Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the son of the late Robert J. and Margaret (Kennedy) McLaughlin, Sr.

Robert was born on July 25, 1935 in Lynn, MA. He was a Foxboro resident for the past thirty seven years and was formerly of Danvers and Lynn. He was a graduate of Merimack College with a Bachelor of Art degree, Class of 1958. He and his wife, Honora were married on September 5, 1959 at St. Mary’s Church in Beverly, MA. He proudly served his country in the 110th Armored Division US Army during the Vietnam War.

He was employed for many years as an engineering sales representative for the Charles Bruning Company of Chestnut Hill and retired after ten years in security from Datel, Inc. of Mansfield in 2002. He was a former member of the Foxboro Country Club. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan as well as a Bobby Orr fan.

Beloved husband of Honora (Rourke) McLaughlin. Loving father of Marcy McLaughlin Kelly and her husband Gerald of Walpole and the late Pamela McLaughlin Kelley. Father in law of William Kelley of Reading. Papa to Nicholas, Skyler and Jackson Kelley of Reading and Shaylyn, Donovan and Victoria Kelly of Walpole. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend calling hours from 12 to 3 pm on Wednesday, August 16 at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro followed by a funeral service at 3 pm. Interment with US Army honors to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro.
