MILFORD – Foxboro native Evelyn M. Grigsby, 93, died Tuesday at Milford Regional Hospital a week after abdominal surgery.
She had been in good health until shortly before her death.
Mrs. Grigsby was the wife of the late Jack W. Grigsby and the daughter of the late Francis and E. Marion (Pratt) Daniels of Normandy Farm, Foxboro.
A graduate of Foxboro High School, she attended Boston University and was a graduate of the Tufts University School of Occupational Therapy. She was a registered occupational therapist and later became certified as a librarian and worked in the children’s department at Boyden Library in Foxboro.
Mrs. Grigsby was a lifelong member of Bethany Congregational Church where she was active in bazaars and for 25 years sent greeting cards to members and friends of the church.
She was a member of the Foxboro Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons, the Foxboro Women’s Club, the Historical Society, Friends of Boyden Library, and Friends of Camp St. Augustine.
Mrs. Grigsby enjoyed painting, photography, and sewing for fairs and family. Children were a source of joy to her throughout her life.
She leaves a son, Alan S. Grigsby of Claremont, NH; two grandsons, Greg M. Grigsby of Grantham, NH, and Casey S. Grigsby of Sharon, VT; and three great-grandchildren, Paige Kinney and Claire E. Grigsby of Grantham and Jack M. Grigsby of Sharon.
Another son, Sgt. Mark W. Grigsby, was killed in action during the Vietnam War.
Mrs. Grigsby is survived by two brothers, Douglas Daniels of Sonoma, California, and Paul Fuller of Hawkins, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Calling hours will be at the Roberts Funeral Home 30 South St. in Foxboro on Monday from 7-9 p.m.
A memorial service will be at Bethany Congregational Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Rockhill Cemetery in Foxboro.
