Virginia L. Devine

Virginia L. (Gould) Devine, 90, of Foxboro died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Edward F. Devine, whom she married on Jan. 16, 1943.
Born in Walpole on June 13, 1919, she was a daughter of the late George E. Gould and Emma L. (Duff) Gould.
A 1936 graduate of Walpole High School, she worked for New England Telephone & Telegraph for many years, retiring in 1984. Previously, she and her husband also owned and operated Devine’s Motor Sales, a Lincoln-Mercury automobile dealership on Central Street in Foxboro. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Foxboro Firefighter’s Auxiliary and the Foxboro Garden Club.
In her retirement, she was an accomplished painter who gave away many pieces to family and friends, and enjoyed canning produce from the family’s extensive gardens off Chestnut Street. She also had an interest in genealogy later in life.
She is survived by four daughters, Karen Kaiser, Nancy Whitehouse and Janice Kennedy, all of Foxboro, and Jeanne and her husband David Pasqualini of New London, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Dan, Jennifer, Jeff, Melissa, Kristen, Kara and Whitney; and two great- grandchildren, Damon and Kaylee. She is the sister of Barbara Fillmore of West Melbourne, Fla. and the late Howard D. and Ralph V. Gould of New Hampshire.

Funeral Information

Calling hours will be on Monday, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro, followed at noon by services, also at the funeral home.
