Bernard F. "Whitey" Norton
February 20, 1928 - December 20, 2009
Beloved Father and Grandfather Foxborough – Bernard Francis “Whitey” Norton, age 81, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the son of the late Bernard and Marie (Langenfeld) Norton.
Whitey was born on February 20, 1928 in Dorchester. He was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1946. Whitey proudly served his country in the US Army in the Korean War. Whitey married his wife Loraine (Fitzgerald) on October 13, 1956 at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church in Norwood. He was employed by Boston Edison, retiring in September, 1991 and also worked at the Foxborough Raceway.
Whitey was a lover of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He was blessed to see his Red Sox win the World Series twice.
Beloved husband of the late Loraine (Fitzgerald) Norton. Loving father of Maureen and her husband George Denison of South Portland, ME, Caroline and her husband Bill Dana of Marshfield and Susan and her husband Ken Tracy of Walpole. Devoted grandfather of Ryan and Meghan Denison of ME, Lauren and Mia Dana of Marshfield and Kaitlyn and Conor Tracy of Walpole. Brother of Bernice Kirsch of Middleboro and the late Robert Norton, Frances Norton and Margaret Denehy.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, December 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 23 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxborough. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxborough.
