Donald W. Middleton

April 16, 1925 - July 06, 2008

Retired Superintendent for Draper Bothers of Canton

Onset-Donald Whiting Middleton, age 83, Of Onset, formerly of Foxborough and Falmouth, died on July 6, 2008 at Tobey Hosptal in Wareham surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the son of the late Clarence A. and Cora (Thornton) Middleton.

Don was born in Lawrence, MA on April 16, 1925. He was a 1943 graduate of Dighton High School and a 1950 graduate of Lowell Textile Institute. Don proudly served his country in the 10th Mountain Div. Ski Troops during WWII and was a Bronze Star recipient.

Don worked for Draper Brothers of Canton for 25 years and retired as Mill Superintendent in 1987. An avid golfer, Don was a life member of Foxboro Country Club. He was an avid skier and in 1948 won the Rhode Island State Ski Championship. He was an avid boater on the waters of Cape Cod. He also enjoyed playing bridge and was for years a proud member of the “Bridge Club” in Canton.

Beloved husband of Maureen E. (O’Toole) Jones Middleton and the late Theresa B. (McGovern) Middleton. Loving Father of Dr. Donald W. Middleton Jr. and his wife Genia Griffiths of Mattapoisett,Nancy J. Buckley and her husband James of Buzzards Bay and the late Richard T. Middleton. Step Father of Andrew Jones and his wife Kathleen Scanlan Jones of North Attleboro, Christopher Jones and his wife Marina of Los Angeles, Meaghan Jones of New York and Kyle Jones of Washington, DC. Grandfather of Tyler and Katharine Middleton, Jennifer Ellinger and Kevin and Mark Buckley. Brother of Dr. Robert T. Middleton of VT, David T. Middleton of Shrewsbury. Also survived by seven step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, July 9, from 4-7 at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home 30 South St. in Foxborough. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Foxborough. Interment to follow with United States Army Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxborough.
