Edwin L. VanDenBerghe

September 28, 1934 - February 24, 2008

Avid Sports Enthusiast

Edwin L. VanDenBerghe, age 73, beloved husband of Patricia (Mullaney) VanDenBerghe of Foxboro died peacefully February 24 2008 with extended family by his side. Born September 28, 1934 in Norwood. He was the son of the late Edwin and Julia (Tynan) VanDenBerghe also of Foxboro.

He was a lifelong resident of Foxboro, Mr VanDenBerghe was educated in local schools and attended Boston College and Stonehill College in the mid 1950s where he played basketball for the Eagles and Chieftains respectively. He owned and operated TruLine Builders for many years and was well known as a skilled carpenter. An avid sports enthusiast, he was an expert hunter and fisherman who enjoyed all forms of athletics and rounds of golf with his family in Maine and Ireland. In recent years he particularly enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in local, high school, and college sports.

Besides his wife of 53 years, he leaves a son, Edwin L. VanDenBerghe, Jr., of Foxboro, six daughters, Donna Roche of Plainville, Doreen LeBlanc of Cumberland, RI, Darlene Murray of Mansfield, Diane Morse, and Diedre Lake both of North Attleboro, and Danielle Colon of Edenton, NC. He also leaves five brothers, Frank, of Berkeley, Jan of Harwich, Mark of North Attleboro, Karl and Lance both of Foxboro. He is survived by twenty grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his best friend of the past sixty one years, Bert Cook of Mansfield.

Funeral Information

Calling hours will be held on Thursday Feb. 28 from 4-7p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street Foxboro, MA. Funeral on Friday 8:a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. For additional information please contact us at 508-543-5471.
