Alpherd A. Bergman

July 16, 1933 - January 07, 2006

Retired Member of the Shopmans Iron Workers Union Local 501

Alpherd Arthur Bergman, age 72, died early Saturday morning, January 7, 2006. He was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Schmidt) Bergman.

Born July 16, 1933 in Wichita, KS, where he was a 1951 graduate of Wichita North High School. He attended Coyne Electrical School of Boston. Mr. Bergman proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He married his wife Lauretta J. (O’Connell) at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in East Boston on July 8, 1956.

Mr. Bergman and his wife moved to Foxboro in 1962. He worked with the Shopmans Iron Workers Local 501 of Braintree for forty years. While in the Iron Workers, he worked for E.T. Ryan Iron Company of Raynham and most recently worked for Home Depot in Norwood.

Mr. Bergman was a member of the Independent Sportsmans Club of Foxboro and the American Legion Post 93 of Foxboro. He was a devoted husband and father.

Beloved husband of Lauretta J. (O’Connell) Bergman. Loving father of Glen B. and Paul J. Bergman, both of Foxboro and Brenda J. Bergman of Berwick, ME. Brother of Lodima Lange of Tuscon, AZ and Margaret Harlan of Wichita, KS. Adoring grandfather of Jared Johnson of Berwick, ME. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro on Monday, January 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10 at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro with US Naval Honors.
