Emily Therese Young

April 10, 1928 - February 20, 2006

Emily Therese (Peterson) Young, age 77, died suddenly at the Caritas Norwood Hospital on Tuesday February 20. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Ethel M. (McDonald) Peterson.

Emily was born in Attleboro on April 10, 1928 and was a long time resident of Mansfield, where she was a graduate of Mansfield High School, Class of 1946. Emily and her husband Wendell were married at Bethany Congregational Church on August 12, 1951. She first worked as chief switchboard operator for the Foxboro Company in Foxboro. She then for several years operated the Foxboro Hat Shop in Foxboro Center.

Emily was a long time member of the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxboro where she ran the knitting table for the Bethany Christmas Fair. She was a member of the former Foxboro Women’s Club and enjoyed spending time at her home in Pocasset on Cape Cod. She took great pride in her knitting talent and most of all was a proud grandmother.

Beloved wife of 54 years of Wendell S. Young. Loving mother of Barry S. and his wife Jane of Mansfield, David F. and his wife Sandy of Mansfield and Diane E. Moynihan of West Roxbury. Devoted grandmother of Adam, Bryan and Craig Young, Micaela and Jonathan Moynihan and Amy Young.

Funeral Information

Friends and family are cordially invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, February 24 at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 10 am at Bethany Congregational Church, 3 Rockhill Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow at Rockhill Cemetery, Foxboro.
