Robert Gilbert Christensen

September 09, 1921 - August 03, 2006

U.S. Army Veteran, WWII.

Robert Gilbert Christensen, age 84, died on Thursday August 3, 2006 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital. Robert was the son of the late Carl and Ellen (Anderson) Christensen and Husband of the late Amy Christensen.

Robert was born in North Easton on September 9, 1921 and was a long time Brockton resident. He has been a Foxboro resident for the past 40 years. He was a graduate of Brockton High School class of 1939.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for many years for the Merchant Tire Company in Brockton. He loved vegetable and flower gardening. He also loved watching his television and was an avid New England sports fan. Robert was a positive and easygoing person and was a wonderful and devoted uncle.

Brother of Dorris Martin and her husband Paul of Carver and the late Arlene Bailey and Donald Christensen. Brother in-law of L. Mary Christensen of Alexandria, NH and John and Barbara Rietz of Eliot, ME. Uncle of Nancy McComas-Sharp of Alexandria, NH, Beverly Lunardi of Woburn, Cherie Allen of Wareham, Richard Bailey of Hebron, NH, Edward Bailey of N. Easton, William Allen of Falmouth, Ron Allen of Sandwich, John and Miaki Rietz of Wrentham and Kristine Rietz of Berwick, ME. Great uncle of Stephanie McComas of Alexandria, NH and Ava and Amelia Rietz of Wrentham. Cousin of June Ohman and Shirley Anderson. Special Friend of Alice and Ed Sanford and family.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday August 7, from 5-8 PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street in Foxboro. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxboro.
