Violet Ruth Broderick, age 59, died at her home in Norton after a long illness surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. Violet was born in Boston on August 13, 1947 and was a native of Foxboro were she attended school. She worked as a Health Aid at the Wrentham State Developmental Center for over 20 years until her retirement in 1986. Violet loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed playing bingo in Norton and surrounding towns. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Beloved wife of Michael I. Broderick. Loving mother of Elizabeth Silva of Norton and Manuel Arruda of Taunton. Devoted daughter of Violet Lightbody of Foxboro and the late Thomas Cummings. Stepdaughter of Chester L. Lightbody of Foxboro. Sister of John McLaughlin and his wife Karen of Plainville, Jean and her husband Elmer Morse of Foxboro, Beverly and her husband Charles Beatrice of Norton, Louella and her husband John Filmore of Vermont, Thomas Cummings and his wife Marcy of Wisconsin, Virginia and her husband Victor Sordillo of New Jersey, Ann Kalorous of Quincy and the late Chester L. Lightbody. Cherished Grandmother of Eric Michael, Ryan James and Cory James Silva of Norton and Brian Arruda of Taunton. Great Grandmother of Toni Mae Whalen of Easton. Funeral InformationRelatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, November 26, from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street Foxboro. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxboro.
