Mildred L. KunkelNovember 02, 1911 - July 01, 2006
Mildred Leona Kunkel, age 94, of Foxborough, formerly of Frederick, MD and Hanover, PA, died July 1 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Graverun, MD on November 2, 1911, she was the daughter of Noah and Maggie (Utz) Albin. During Mildred’s entire life she was devoted to her family, friends, church, world missions, reading, sports, hobbies, volunteer work, Foxborough and her country. Since January 1, 1950, Mildred has read the Bible from cover to cover fifty five times. Every year for the past 55+ years she has read every word, verse and chapter in her Bible and each day she “learned something new and always gained new insight”. From 1936 – 1983 Mildred was very active in World Missions – entertaining well over 200 missionaries in her home. The more Mildred gave of herself to others, the more joy and inner peace flowed into her own life. She always “looked at life through the lens of gratitude and almost everything in her life took on a rosy glow”. Mildred always lived life to the fullest, going out to eat with her family and friends; taking her grandchildren out to eat, followed by a park or playground to play; watching football, baseball and basketball on TV; doing her daily puzzles and word searches; cooking; crocheting and knitting; and volunteer work at local nursing homes were some of the things she loved to do. Mildred leaves a great host of loved ones to cherish her memory. She is survived by one son, Ralph of Lake Pleasant, MA; two daughters, Kaye Naylor of Foxboro and Beverly O’Neill of FL; one sister, Muriel Brendle of PA; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
