Walter Leo Collins Sr.

August 19, 1932 - March 19, 2006

Walter L. Collins, age 73, of Foxboro died Sunday, March 19 at his home surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. Walter was the son of the late John E. and Marie Lee (Day) Collins.

Walter was born in Boston on August 19, 1932 and was a resident of West Roxbury for several years. He married his wife Jean on May 24, 1958 in West Roxbury. He had been a Foxboro resident for the past 47 years.

Walter was a graduate of Roslindale High School, Class of 1951 and a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1957. Walter proudly served his country as a Sea Bee in the Korean War. Walter owned and operated Collins Surgical in Brockton and Collins Sports Medicine in Raynham. He was a former Business Manager in the Foxboro Public Schools. Walter was a former King Lion of the Foxboro Lions Club. He cherished his family and was an avid New England Patriots fan.

Loving husband of Jean M. (Donaldson) Collins. Devoted father of Walter L., Jr and his wife Julie M. Collins, Carole C. Alexander and Lynne C. and her husband Paul Bjorkman, all of Mansfield. Loving grandfather of Kailin, Ryan and Shayne Collins, Kelsey and Jake Alexander and Ashley and Lindsey Bjorkman. Brother of Ellen C. Philie of S. Yarmouth and the late John E. Collins, Jr.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to calling hours at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro on Friday, March 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25 at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro at 10:00 am. Interment to follow with military honors at Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxboro.
