Pauline Goodale Fleming

April 22, 1907 - January 31, 2006

Pauline G. Fleming, of Sharon, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2006. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Fleming to whom she had been married for 71 years at the time of his death in 2001.

She was born on April 22, 1907 in West Boylston, MA, the daughter of the late Leon A. Elsie Phelps Goodale. She was raised in Worcester, MA, graduating from North High School in 1925. She graduated from Worcester Normal School in 1927, after which she taught elementary school in Dana, MA (now part of Quabbin Reservoir) and in Oakdale, MA. She also lived in Littleton, NH and Plantsville, CT before moving to Sharon in 1943.

Pauline was a Camp Fire Girl and was active in the Sharon Girl Scout Council, serving for many years as a trustee of the Sharon Girl Scout House. She was a longtime election worker and an avid bridge player, theater and concertgoer. She was a member of the Adams Square Baptist Church in Worcester for many years and attended the Congregational Church in Sharon.

She is survived by her children, Janet F. Haynes of Foxboro, Wayne G. Fleming of Marlow, OK, and Sally B. Watters of Southboro, MA; three grandsons, five granddaughters and two great grandchildren; her sister Edith G. Sivert, sister-in-law Margaret Goodale; and many nephews, one niece and cousins. She was the sister of the late Lois G. Leach and the late Arnold P. Goodale.

Funeral Information

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 2 pm at the First Congregational Church, 29 North Main Street, Sharon, followed by a collation in the parish hall. Burial will be private.
