William John Kratzer

Retired Foxboro Postal Clerk William John Kratzer, age 74, of Foxboro, died on Sunday December 4, at North East Specialty Hospital in Braintree. He was the son of the late Russell and Annabelle (Heddon) Kratzer.
William was born on April 26 1931 in Trenton, NJ and was educated in the Trenton Public School System. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served his country during the Korean conflicted. William retired as aChief Petty Officer after 20 years of service.
William married his wife Margaret N. (Gomes) on September 16, 1961 and moved to Foxboro to raise their family in 1963. William worked for the Foxboro, Co. for 2 years. He retired from the Foxboro Post Office as a Clerk after 20 years of Service. He then worked part time for Congdon Auto Sales of Foxboro and also as a part time Driver for Rodman Ford in Foxboro.
William was a member of the Foxboro V.F.W. Post 2626 and was a avid bowler. He loved sports and particularly loved the N.E. Patriots and was a season ticket holder for many years. He also enjoyed Fishing and loved to dance.
Devoted husband of Margaret N. Gomes to whom he was married to for 43 years. Loving father of Robert W. Kratzer and his fiancée Liz Parker of Foxboro, William J. Kratzer Jr. of the Czech Republic and Karen LeMatty of Tenn. Brother of Ellen Fletcher and her husband Patrick of Jackson, NJ, Sue Clugster of Hamilton, NJ and the late Russell Jr. Brother in-law of Russell’s widow Jean Kratzer of Yardville, NJ. Step – brother of Joyce Taylor and Betty Nelligan both of Florida. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday Dec. 10, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South St. Foxboro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to Follow with U. S. Navy Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxboro.
