John J. Talbot

John J. Talbot, age 86, died on Monday August 7, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the son of the late Felix F. and Elizabeth (Ahern) Talbot.

John was born in Boston on January 18, 1920 and was a native of Jamaica Plain. He was the president of Jamaica Plain High School Class of 1939. He and his wife Ruth were married in January 1941 at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury.

John proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army Signal Corps were he saw extensive action in the Philippines. After the War he worked for New England Tel. & Tel. for over 40 Years.

He has been a devoted member of Alcoholic Anonymous out of the Holy Name Church in West Roxbury. He devoted much of his life to helping and sponsoring people afflicted with the disease of alcohol dependency.

In 1976, at the age of 56, he graduated from Boston College. John valued education and was very proud of his children and grandchildren’s academic achievements.

John has been a resident of Foxboro for the past 18 years and is a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro.

Beloved husband of the late Ruth (McInnis) Talbot. Loving father of R. Maureen Joyce of Boston, Barbara O’Donnell of Shavertown, PA, John Talbot Jr. of Canton, Mary Brewer of Andover and Felicia Sullivan of Hopedale. Brother of Richard Talbot of Foxboro. Devoted friend of Dorothy McCarthy of Foxboro. Also survived by 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday August 10, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South St. Foxboro. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter St., in Foxboro. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.
