Paul Robert Thompson, age 80, died at his home in Foxborough on Tuesday March 7, surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. Paul was son of the late Robert and Mary (Coogan) Thompson.

Paul was born in Boston on April 21, 1925 and lived for many years in the Mission Hill section of Boston. He attended Boston School of Commerce and after High School he joined the U.S. Marine Corps were he was a combat veteran and a Purple Heart recipient.

Paul married his wife Theresa (Lynch) at St. Francis of DeSales Church in Charlestown on April 7, 1956 and has resided in Foxborough for past 38 years. Paul worked for many years for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue until his retirement in 1990.

Paul enjoyed spending time during the winter with his wife in Lauderdale by the Sea and enjoyed working in his yard at his home in Foxborough. He was an avid walker. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Devoted husband of 50 years to Theresa (Lynch) Thompson. Loving Father of Paul Jr. of Hernando Beach. Fl, Kevin of Rehoboth, Stephen of Tampa, Fl, Ann Marie Geary of Foxborough, Brian of Scottsdale, AZ and John of Foxborough. Brother of Alex Thompson of Norton and the late Louise Kelley, Robert Coogan and Helen Melia.

Funeral Information

Friends and relatives are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday March 9, from 4 – 8 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home 30 South Street Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxborough. Interment with U.S. Marine Honors to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Foxborough.
