Constance Sycafoose

February 13, 1921 - June 22, 2008

Retired Secretary for the Robinson Hill School

Foxborough-Constance Sycafoose, age 87, died on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Daggett Crandall Newcomb Home in Norton. She was the wife of the late Richard Sycafoose and daughter of the late Charles A. and Mabelle (Hill) Burrell.

Constance was born on February 13, 1921 in Watertown, MA. She was a long time resident of Foxborough and was a graduate of Foxborough High School Class of 1938 and the Michaud’s Secretarial School, 1940.

Constance was a Foxboro Company employee from 1940 to 1947.Connie attended the Academy Modern evenings and graduated in 1944, and moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career in 1945. She then worked for Ladies Home Journal Fashion Department as editorial assistant from 1947 to 1952. Her office was on the 29th floor of Rockefeller Center where she could view the skating rink below. She met her husband in New York and was married in 1949 at St. John’s Cathedral.

After moving back to Foxboro, she became the secretary for the Robinson Hill School in 1958 and held that position until her retirement in 1978.

Constance was a lifetime member and former deacon of Bethany Congregational Church in Foxborough. where she served on the Leadership, and Mission of Caring committees, past President of the Foxboro Women’s Club and a former member of Wading River Golf Club in Norton.

Connie was an avid golfer, scoring a hole in one at the Foxboro Country Club. She also enjoyed knitting, bridge and gardening.

In 1953 she was awarded the Medallion of Honor by the Women’s National Institute of New York in recognition of her efforts to improve her neighborhood. Her medallion read, “You’re an inspiration to women everywhere”

Loving mother of Suzanne Sycafoose of Manchester, CT and Sandra Sycafoose of Portland, OR. Devoted grandmother of Michael Feltovic and his wife Alexis of Florida and Jessica Feltovic of Marlborough, CT. Sister of the late Barbara Brainard, Thelma Fernald and Charles Burrell. Jr. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 26 from 3 to 6 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. in Foxboro. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Bethany Congregational Church, 3 Rockhill St., in Foxboro.
