Edna Elizabeth Groves

Devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother Edna Elizabeth (McCarthy) Groves, age 79, died on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at her home in North Attleboro surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. Edna was the daughter of the late Dennis and Lillian (Strickland) McCarthy.
Edna was born in Dorchester on July 18, 1928 and was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girl’s. Edna and her husband Walter were married at St. Matthews Church in Dorchester on September 12, 1948. She and her husband moved to Foxboro in 1959 and remained in Foxboro until 2000.
Edna was a telephone operator for New England Telephone in Boston. She was also a clerk for the former Kings and Bradlees Department Stores in Foxboro and Sears in Brockton. Edna cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a current member of the K Club of Dorchester and was an avid bingo player.
She was the beloved wife of Walter J. Groves. Loving mother of Kathleen and her husband John Pritchard of Mansfield, Walter “Chip” Groves of Foxboro, Nancy Tisbert of Florida, Marianne Groves of North Attleboro, William Groves of Foxboro and Lisa and her husband Michael Pratt of North Attleboro. Sister of Christine Cassidy of East Bridgewater. Also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday December 7, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
