Retired Loan Officer for the Small Business Administration

William D. Thorne, Sr., age 73, of Foxboro died unexpectedly Sunday, January 20 at his home. He was the loving husband of Phyllis (Pike) Thorne, who passed away on October 8, 2007.

William was born on March 7, 1934 in Elm City, NC. He was a graduate of Boston University and proudly served his country in the US Army. William married his wife Phyllis on October 4, 1959 at St. Mary’s By the Sea in Orient Heights.

William worked for many years as a loan officer for the Small Business Administration in Providence. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He loved music and playing guitar.

Devoted father of Karen Thorne of Rehoboth and William Thorne, Jr of Seattle, WA. Loving cousin of the Kavanaugh Family, Brother in law of Frances and uncle of Francine, Donna, Carol, Kevin, Bobby, Stephen and Jimmy. He also leaves behind his dear friends Heinz and Chris Mueller of Virginia and his long time neighbors of Greenview Estates in Foxboro.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 25 from 5 to 8 pm at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 9 am at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow with Military Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Foxboro.
