Harold E. McKenzie Jr.

Harold E. “Mac” McKenzie Jr., age 81, entered into eternal peace on December 9, 2007. Born in Wollaston on February 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Harold E and Louise (Harnden) McKenzie.

A life long Foxborough resident, Harold was a graduate of Foxboro High School Class of 1944. He also was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton School in Boston. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. On November 23, 1950, he and his wife Madelyn Young were married at the South Walpole Methodist Church. They just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

After the war Harold with his father owned and operated the former McKenzie Motors on Central Street in Foxborough which was previously his grandfathers blacksmith shop. He also worked in the Credit and Contracts department at the Foxboro Company for 18 years.

Harold was a lifetime member of the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxborough. In 1947 he became a member of the St. Alban’s Lodge A.F. & A.M. and was Master of the lodge in 1959. He became a member of the Rabboni Royal Arch Chapter in Foxborough in 1949 and the Bristol Commandery, NO. 29 in Attleboro. He was a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington and was a past member of the Weary Travelers Club in Bourne.

Harold was a former director for the Foxborough Savings Bank, former member of the Foxborough Historical Commission and former Trustee for the Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxborough. He was also an Honorary Member of the Stewart Manor-St. Alban’s Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Floral Park, New York.

In April of 1990, Harold was awarded the Joseph Warren Medal by the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts for distinguished service to Masonry.

He leaves his wife Madelyn “Buzz” (Young) McKenzie, His three daughters; Lorna Sullivan, Bonnie McKenzie and Glenda Haney, Seven Grandchildren; Eric, Kyle and Kelly Sullivan, Melanie (Randall) Levine and Katie Randall and Collin and Leslie Haney. He was also the proud great grandfather of Nicholas and Allison Levine.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 4-8 PM at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home 30 South St. Foxborough.
