John N. Healy

September 08, 1932 - March 28, 2010

Beloved Husband Father and Grandfather

John Newcomb Healy, of Dunedin, FL and formerly a long-time resident of Foxboro, Massachusetts, passed away on March 28, 2010 at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of fifty-two years to Maureen “Kim” (Kimberley) Healy and the youngest child of the late Daniel and Pauline (Newcomb) Healy. He was born on September 8, 1932 in Waltham, MA. John is the brother of Daniel Healy and his wife, Dorothy, of Chatham, MA as well as the late Robert E. Healy, and the late Pauline (Healy) Moran.

John was a veteran of the armed services, serving four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He attended Boston College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1960. He was to attend his 50th class reunion this October. John was employed at the Foxboro Company for many years before securing a position with the United States Postal Service in Foxboro, where he worked for thirty-two years, retiring in 1990. In addition, John worked for the Foxboro Raceway for over twenty years, and at Rodman Ford for many years after his retirement from the Post Office.

John was married to the love of his life, Kim, on June 14, 1958. John and Kim moved from Waltham, MA to Foxboro to raise their family in 1963. In 2001, after retirement from the Post Office, they lived part-time in Dunedin, Florida before becoming full-time residents in 2007.

John was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #6063 and a member of the American Legion Post #93, both of Foxboro. In addition, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. John was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Foxboro, as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Dunedin, FL.

John was an avid collector of lighthouses, stamps, and coins. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, going for long drives with his family, and was a dedicated New England sports fan. John had an incredible passion for the ocean.

In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by five children; Robert Healy of North Attleboro, MA, Susan Call and her husband, Michael, of Mansfield, MA, Catherine Healy, of Norton, MA, David Healy and his fiancé, Heather Snow, of Foxboro, MA, and Maureen Mobley and her husband James of Norton, MA. John was also survived by nine grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Calling hours will be at Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxboro, MA on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 4-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro, MA on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 10 am followed by internment at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
